Interview with A. Tennyson Smith, an educator, concerning his experiences as a teacher and coach at Frederick Douglass Colored School in Denton, Texas (1936-1943). Smith comments on Principal Fred Moore, segregated education in Denton, his admission to the doctoral program and breaking the color barrier at North Texas State College in 1954, and his teaching philosophy.
